Dr. J. Barclay Woodward

Dr. Woodward was born in Beaufort, South Carolina while his father was stationed at Parris Island as a Marine Drill Sergeant. The family soon returned home to Valdosta after his father fulfilled his duty to his country and to the Marine Corps. Dr. Woodward graduated from Valdosta High School in 1989. After graduation, he began his studies at Valdosta State College, and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1993 with a degree in Biology. At the University of Georgia, Dr. Woodward was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society, and was also a presidential scholar who consistently made the Dean’s list. Dr. Woodward received his degree in Dentistry (DMD) from the Medical College of Georgia in 1998, and was honored by the school of dentistry with a SWDDA scholarship and a merit award for undergraduate studies of removable denture prosthodontics.

Dr. Woodward is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Georgia Dental Association, the Quad County Dental Association, GADPAC, and the Southwestern District Dental Association. Dr. Woodward is a part time Clinical Instructor at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Drs. Woodward has studied at numerous advanced dental training institutions including: the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, the Seattle Institute for Advanced Learning, the Hornbrook Group, the Drevenstedt Group and the Ross Nash Institute. Every year, Dr. Woodward exceeds the amount of continuing education required by the Georgia Board of Dentistry by as much as two to three times.

Dr. Woodward is a clinical product evaluator for Dentsply Caulk, an officer in the Quad County Dental Society, an advisory committee member for the Valdosta Technical Institute Schools of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting, and a Community Partner in Education for the Valdosta City School System. He participates in Children’s Dental Health Month and volunteers at the LAMP Indigent Dental Clinic at Val-Tech.

Dr. Woodward has been married to the former Courtney Bryan of Lilburn, Georgia since April, 2000. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997 with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance. Courtney is employed by Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a sales consultant. They are awaiting the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, due in November.
